Brass dial shelf clock, ca. 1790-1800.

Shelf clock with a molded broken-scroll pediment terminating in carved roundels topped with two brass urn-and-flame finials. Top section with fluted pilasters at either side of the glazed arched door, and cove and ogee moldings at the bottom. Bottom section with fluted pilasters at front corners, a rectangular door with an applied molded arch supported on fluted pilasters, a central knob, an inlaid fan above the door, and a cove and ovolo molded base. Engraved dial with roman hour numerals and arabic minute numerals, and the inscription "Danl Balch Newbury Port" in the lunette.
